The history of the San Pellegrino Biscuit begins with Luigi Giacomo Milesi, the inventor of the biscuit, who, after a quarrel with his father, was given a collection of puppets used by his family to perform puppet shows in the area. Luigi became so passionate about the puppets that he decided to combine this passion with his love for biscuit making. During the theatrical performances, he began giving these ‘half-moon’ biscuits to the audience, who turned them into smiles, mustaches, and funny expressions. The puppets became legendary, and the biscuit gained incredible fame. Even today, the Bigio Biscuit is produced following the same recipe and artisanal process in the same location, preserving the tradition intact.
